At Benny and Mollie, we’re proud to showcase the work of talented artisans, and one of our favourites is Megan Fatharly, a gifted artist from Edinburgh who brings a delicate touch to her handcrafted pieces. Growing up by the coast, Megan has always drawn inspiration from the small, often overlooked details of everyday life, especially the quiet beauty found in interiors and hidden spaces. It’s this love for the mundane that transforms her art into something truly special.
Graduating from Falmouth University in 2018 with a BA in Drawing, Megan found her artistic voice through printmaking and collage. She uses traditional techniques like embossing and manipulates different surfaces to create unique textures and layers. Her work is a wonderful mix of delicate linework, gouache, and hand-made papers, all brought together with precision and care.
One of the most fascinating aspects of Megan’s work is the scale. Many of her pieces are just 2cm in size, making each one feel like a tiny world filled with stories waiting to be discovered. These small, intricate layers come together to form individual narratives that celebrate the beauty of the everyday.
Megan’s work goes beyond the surface, often inviting viewers to pause and reflect on the moments we often take for granted—the light in a forgotten corner of a room or the memory of a space once familiar. Each piece is tactile and playful, with fragments of paper and image carefully re-arranged to create something entirely new.
If you’re looking for unique, handmade pieces that capture the essence of life’s quiet moments, Megan Fatharly’s creations are a perfect choice. Her work is not just art; it’s a narrative, a journey through memory and space, all wrapped up in delicate detail.
